The Seattle Church of Christ on Queen Anne is having its first-ever rummage sale and bake sale on Saturday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The events will take place in the Fellowship Hall, adjacent to the church (2555 Eighth Ave. W.).

The list of items ranges from jewelry and clothing to antiques, home items, electronics, camping gear and more.

The money raised will benefit the church’s ongoing restoration project. The church was built in 1927 and has been undergoing renovation since the current congregation bought the building in 2007. The congregations is currently focusing on restoring the building’s windows and exterior paint.

“In a way, maintaining a building of this vintage is a bit like maintaining a large bridge. Once you reach the end of the project, the beginning is ready for you to start again,” said church volunteer Gerard Van der Leun in an email.
The Seattle Church of Christ Teen Group will simultaneously host a bake sale, selling pastries, pies and cakes. The money raised from that will benefit the group’s overnight summer camp.
