Seattle Parks and Recreation and the King County’s Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) will have a “stewardship education” event on June 28, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Held at the Discovery Park lighthouse roundabout, the event will offer information about the summer trail-enforcement period — which will address problems with illegal parking, trespass and damage to beach areas — and tours of the natural area.

Seattle Parks staff and naturalists will also provide information about activities and opportunities to volunteer in Discovery Park.

WTD is working with Seattle Parks on better securing the West Point wastewater treatment facility. Community suggestions include improving signage for permit requirements, using traffic counters to track park user volumes and after-hours use; and assessing increased security presence and response to other activities.
