The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has shifted traffic on eastbound Mercer Street for Thursday, Feb. 6.

This morning, traffic on eastbound Mercer Street between Fifth and Dexter avenues North shifted one lane north to facilitate construction activities on the south side of the roadway.

Travelers can expect the following changes:

•Two eastbound lanes will be maintained on Mercer Street through the work zone.

•Pedestrians and bicyclists shifted from the south side of Mercer Street to a temporary asphalt path on the north side of Mercer between Fifth and Dexter. No pedestrian access is allowed on the south side of Mercer Street.

More information about pedestrian and bicycle access during construction can be found at www.seattle.gov/transportation/mercer_maps_detour.htm.

•This configuration will be in place for approximately four months as crews prepare to open Mercer Street to two-way traffic this spring.
