Library patrons shouldn’t be alarmed if they hear occasional screaming and shouting in the Central Library (1000 Fourth Ave.) on Saturday afternoon.

The Central Library’s Microsoft Auditorium will broadcast the Seahawks playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers starting around 1:35 p.m. this Saturday, Jan. 11.

There is no admission, and seating is first-come, first-served. The auditorium will open at 1 p.m. and can accommodate about 200 people.

“We thought it would be fun to have the game on for our patrons, particularly those who don’t have ready access to television. I’m sure there will be patrons working or studying in the building who also will appreciate the opportunity to take a break and watch part of the game,” said city librarian Marcellus Turner.

The library will get fans in the spirit by offering football-shaped cookies and free Seahawk promotional items (limited availability). Library staff members will be encouraged to wear their Seahawks jerseys.
