The Seattle Art Museum (SAM, 1300 First Ave.) will kick off Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend with “Making a Movement: Martin & Mandela” on Friday, Jan. 17.

The event will include a free double-feature of films, including King’s speech “I Have a Dream” and Greta Schiller’s film “The Man Who Drove with Mandela.”

The program also includes a community dialogue and conversation about ways to volunteer in honor of King, Mandela and other movement makers who led lives of service for social change.

SAM will open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 20.
